The international seminar 'in the right hands' was held on the 21st to the 23rd of February 2006 at The Chateau on he Park in Christchurch, New Zealand.

It was chaired by Dr Jack McConchie, Convenor Firearm Safety Committee, New Zealand Mountain Safety Council (Inc). The  web site http://www.firearmsafetyseminar.org.nz/ was setup for the conference but no longer exists. This pages is intended to make available some of the material from this event as presented on a CD at the time.

The Seminar aimed to:

  • call attention to responsible and safe firearm use
  • motivate quality research into firearm safety
  • exchange ideas, concepts, strategies and procedures for firearm safety
  • encourage community participation in firearm safety
  • assist Pacific Island States with firearm safety and training
